Dawn Brenner CPA, Managing Partner at Grant Bennett Associates APC (‘GBA’), has been appointed to serve on the AICPA’s Peer Review Board (‘PRB’), a senior technical committee responsible for maintaining, furthering and governing the activities of the peer review program, including the issuance of peer review standards and peer review guidance.
Brenner comments: “I bring a unique perspective to the PRB having been involved with the accounting professional from both an educational standpoint as a member of the California Peer Review Committee and from a regulatory standpoint as a previous member of the (former) Administrative Committee of the California Board of Accountancy.
“There are significant changes being discussed in the world of peer review and I hope that I will be able to balance the new without losing perspective on the original educational purpose of the peer review program.”
Having once considered teaching as a career, Brenner is looking forward to contributing to the future education of accountants through her involvement in the PRB: “Peer review comes naturally to me. I once aspired to teach but took another path to accounting. This appointment gives me the platform to expand those horizons naturally.”
Brenner joins a committee comprising 21 representatives from the AICPA and other renowned U.S. and international CPA firms.
